Weavers of plaid knew pointillism long before Seurat tried to claim it for his own. When warp and weft of different colors meet, they form the illusion of a new color to the eye.
In this piece, I am creating an illusion of woven ribbons by using small dots of two colors at points where they “intersect” to create an illusion of weaving. In actual fact, there are no ribbons, but simply a flat canvas. At the end, “ribbons” of solid color are added to add to the illusion.
